Get into the swim!

SWIMMING LESSONS

Unfortunately, in 2003 we had to close our Victorian swimming pool for safety reasons.

For this coming academic year, swimming lessons have been arranged for our Year 3 children at the Sowerby Bridge Pool.  Year 4 children will each have one term of swimming.

The lessons will take place every Thursday morning, starting on 6 September 2007.

Swimming tuition is a compulsory part of the National Curriculum, so every child  must attend.

The children will be taken down to Sowerby Bridge Pool by coach, accompanied by members of our staff, and will be supervised at all times by our staff as well as by the employees of the pool.  Each 30 minute session will involve a mixed group of up to 40 pupils, though changing facilities will, of course, be segregated.

On swimming days, each child should bring his/her swimming kit to school (suitable swimming costume and towel in a named bag).  Girls with long hair should wear swimming caps.

If parents have any questions about the swimming lessons, they should not hesitate to ask Mrs Kauser, our home school liaison officer, or Miss Delaney, the PE coordinator.
