Cats eyes for kids

We hope that the Nationwide Building Society will again be distributing cats eye reflectors for each new primary school child in the United Kingdom this year, as they have done since 2001.  All reception class children were given a reflector last year, but they are available to buy at a very low cost from Calderdale Road Safety.

As the clocks go back, and the nights draw in, we hope that children will wear their reflectors as they travel around outside.

By wearing a reflector, a child pedestrian can be visible at 150 metres in low beam headlights as opposed to only 30 metres without one.  This could make a significant difference to their chances of keeping safe on the street.
