1 Sep 2007 - Recycling for charity.............................

As well as our gargantuan paper recycling efforts, we save all sorts of things in the school office for charity.

Firstly, don't forget to bring us all your used stamps.

We have a jar for them in the school office all year round and they go to help the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity. Make sure you cut them carefully from their envelopes, leaving a little margin of paper, so that they aren't damaged at the edges.

Secondly, we save old mobile phones - broken or working. These are sent to Action Aid, who refurbish them and send them to poor areas of Africa, where the mobile phone is a much better aid to communication than landlines, which can be difficult to set up in remote areas. Communication can save lives.

Again for Action Aid, we save old inkjet cartridges, which can be recycled for Action Aid to sell on to schools like ours for reduced rates. If you are unsure whether the cartridges you use are recyclable, please don't hesitate to ask the lovely ladies at the school office, who have a list of all the makes Action Aid accept.

PLEASE HELP US TO HELP OTHERS - ALL CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE VERY GRATEFULLY RECEIVED. YOUR RUBBISH CAN BE VALUABLE!
